Thrashed Off-Road was born from the idea of “Make Off-Roading Affordable Again” so they made it their motto. Now they incorporate it into every new product they add and develop. They pride themselves on cutting profits, not corners. Thrashed Off-Road is part of the Mid-Atlantic Off-Roading family of brands.

Challenge

When the Thrashed Off-Road team first approached Set Fire Creative, they were already running social media ads on their own and seeing some decent results. 

The Set Fire Creative team offered Thrashed Off-Road a complimentary audit of their ad account to find what was working, what wasn’t, and how we could help them improve their results. The ads were receiving sales which was great to see, but the account itself was quite disorganized. There were several campaigns running simultaneously on a limited budget, with no clear direction in targeting. Not to mention, there wasn’t a whole lot of A/B testing taking place.

The first obstacles the Set Fire Creative team faced was figuring out which campaigns and ads to keep running, deciding which ones to replace with new ads, and honing in on the targeting. The next hurdle was deciding whether to convert some of the campaigns from traffic campaigns to conversion campaigns, or leave them as is. The challenge was that all of the campaigns in the account were focusing on clicks and traffic as the campaign goal, whereas we would typically recommend running them as conversion campaigns. But some of those traffic campaigns were still generating purchases. We did not want to risk breaking something that didn’t need fixed.

Our first plan of action could be described by one word—cleanup. 

The Solution

As mentioned before, our main goal was to clean up and organize the ad account. This included turning some ad campaigns off, converting some ad campaigns from traffic to conversion, honing in on the targeting, and creating new ads to A/B test against the current ones. This was all completed within the first few couple of weeks of working together.

By having run ads on their own, the Thrashed Off-Road team made our job that much easier. From our initial audit, we were able to see what was working and wasn’t. There were a few situations where we needed to use best practices or our own experience from other ad accounts to make the right decision. By cleaning up and organizing the ad account, the ad spend is spent more efficiently and the account is easier to manage.

Results

Within in a matter of weeks, the ad account improved immensely. Since starting to work with Thrashed Off-Road, we have seen increases in revenue, products sold, return on ad spend (ROAS), and conversion rate—while seeing the cost per purchase decrease by nearly 50%. Not to mention, we have been able to improve ad quality over the last several months of working together based on our extensive A/B testing (and continue to do so).
